The Catalan Meteorological Society (ACAM), which promotes and disseminates the knowledge of meteorology and climatology in the Mediterranean basin, recently announced the winner of the International Award on Meteorology and Climatology Eduard Fontserè 2019, sponsored by Weather Catalan Service (METEOCAT) and the Environmental Service of the Sustainability Area of Diputació de Barcelona.

The goal of this award is to promote significant research and knowledge about Mediterranean meteorology and climatology, for those paper published in one of the journals included into the “Atmospheric Sciences” indexed as SCI (Science Citation Index, Thomson Reuters) or SCOPUS, between 2017 and 2019.

The committee of the award highlights the high quality of all the papers presented. At the meeting held, the court decided unanimously to award the paper Fewer clouds in the Mediterranean: consistency of observations and climate simulations events frequency and intensity overview by Arturo Sánchez-Lorenzo, Aaron Enriquez-Alonso, Josep Calbó, Josep-Abel González, Martin Wild, Doris Folini, Joel R.
