Training

The main objective of doctoral programmes in Technology is to train students in the development of an original work of research, or doctoral thesis, in several fields of technology, both experimental and theoretical, giving them the right to obtain a doctoral degree qualification. The creation of the new institute will not change these courses.

General objectives

Studies in the Doctoral Programme in Technology aim to train researchers in lines of research within the relevant fields of knowledge of the University of Girona in accordance with the following general objectives:

  • Advanced training of high-quality researchers in the UdG's fields of knowledge
  • Generation and dissemination of new knowledge, both in basic and applied research
  • Development of research activity in the lines of research in experimental sciences and sustainability

Specific objectives

  • Fostering integration of researchers into training in research groups and their participation in competitive research projects.
  • Promoting internationalisation of students' research activity, promoting their mobility and participation in training activities at an international level.

The following are skills are developed by students on the Doctoral Programme in Technology:

  • Systematic understanding of the field of study and domain of the research skills and methods related to technology.
  • Capacity to conceive, design or create, put into practice and adopt a substantial research or creation process.
  • Capacity to contribute to expanding the borders of knowledge through original research.
  • Capacity to conduct a critical analysis and evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas
  • Capacity to communicate with the academic and scientific community and with society in general, both in the field of technology, and in the languages habitually used among the international scientific community.
  • Capacity to foster, in academic and professional contexts, scientific, technological, social or cultural advances in a knowledge-based society.
