Teaching is concentrated in the faculties and schools, and the departments deal with research, which is also conducted by institutes and chairs, at the same time responsible for knowledge promotion.
The main objectives of the Chair of Cardiovascular Diseases are to promote, study, and disseminate knowledge on aspects related to cardiovascular illness and sudden death, and to implement community strategies to improve the detection, prevention, and treatment of the diseases associated with sudden death.
La medicina del medi natural és una disciplina que respon a la necessitat d’oferir atenció sanitària a persones allunyades dels recursos sanitaris i freqüentment en medi hostil. Els canvis en els factors de risc i en el estil de vida (excursionistes diabètics, ciclistes amb stents coronaris,..) han fet augmentar el interès per aquesta disciplina.
The Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) is a research centre on the Government of Catalonia’s CERCA centres network which aims to promote, carry out, manage, transfer and disseminate biomedical research, scientific and technological knowledge, teaching and training in the field of life and health sciences.
The IDIBGI is made up of research and research-staff groups from the field of health and biomedical research and from the Dr Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona (HUJT), the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS), the Institute of Healthcare Assistance (IAS), the Institute for Diagnostic Imaging (IDI), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), the Blood and Tissue Bank (BST), the University of Girona (UdG), the University School of Health and Sports (EUSES) and the Jordi Gol Institute of Primary-Care Research (IDIAP) in Girona.
The facilities of the IDIBGI are located in the Parc Hospitalari Martí i Julià de Salt.
