Dear student,

We would like to give you a warm welcome to the Faculty of Law at the University of Girona.

For many years, our university has established international relations with other universities and faculties of law across Europe and we are pleased to see the number of visiting students increase each year.

This guide will help you integrate into the faculty and the city of Girona.

The University of Girona and the Faculty of Law are part of an academic university tradition that dates back to the 16th century. Since then, we have been committed to excellence in teaching the graduates of the future. In order to achieve this objective, we have a huge body of teaching and administrative staff and a curriculum focused on great education in common and specialist subject areas.

Both the Faculty of Law and the Campus on which it is located provide high quality student services, including: the library, the Centre for European Documentation, classrooms and computer rooms, photocopying services, the Modern Language Service, the Sports Service, accommodation, etc.

We hope that you enjoy your time in our Faculty of Law.

The main objective of the studies is to adapt the knowledge to the reality of the legal world. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge in each branch of law and, by completing the optional modules that most interest them, they will achieve their chosen specialisation. Currently, Doctorate and Master’s degree programmes are delivered.

Every academic year, prestigious lawyers and politicians deliver lectures and seminars. Complementary activities are also organised, like visits to different Catalan, Spanish and European legal institutions, as well as lectures and talks. Periodically, major scientific conferences are organised (for example, the biannual Catalan Law conferences in Tossa de Mar).

At the following link you can consult the various services that the Faculty offers; administrative services, support services and others:

The services are well placed and offer everything you need:

Public transport every 30 minutes (bus station route 8: Campus Montilivi), University services, public telephones, nearby restaurants etc.

The campus library is integrated into the general university library. The student card provided on enrolment gives students free access to all library resources in the field of law as well as other areas and libraries.

The Law USU (Service Unit for Users) specialises in legal research: legal newspapers, legislation and jurisprudence (Aranzadi), law magazines and monographs. Together with printed materials, you will find files on CD-ROM, microfilms, floppy discs, etc.

The Centre for European Documentation (CDE):

This is a service specialised in information and documents on the European Union. The CDE contains a significant number of official publications, as well as videos, magazines, books and all types of information related to European institutions.
