Tutorial Action Plan (TAP) and Skills Assessment Plan (CAP)

Faculty of Sciences

BACHELOR'S DEGREES

The main objectives of the PAT at the FC are as follows:

1. Facilitating the step up from secondary education to university. Welcoming the student, helping them to integrate into their new studies and to identify with their studies and with the institution.

2. Fostering the acquisition of the basic skills and collaborating with the student to help them achieve the best possible grade, monitoring assessments as part of academic courses within the framework of the basic skills assessment plan (PAC).

3. Offering a space of reflection, encouraging the self-regulation and the self-assessment of learning. Working basic skill CB4: Planning and assessing one's own activity and learning and elaborating strategies to improve them by applying quality criteria.

4. Monitoring the student, helping to review their progress on the course. Providing guidance in case of any queries and problems and stimulating the decision-making progressively in a more independent way.

5. Informing and orientating the student about future options both in academia and professionally.

During the first year, there will be certain special characteristics of the PAT to promote the adaptation process, while, during the second, third and fourth years, the priority of the PAT is to monitor the basic skills and to help the student acquiring these skills and promoting them as much as possible.

The basic skills of the FC are:

CB-01. - Capacity for critically analysing complex situations, by collecting information and interpreting data, and designing creative and innovative strategies for solving them.

CB-02. - Knowing how to communicate orally and in writing in scientific and professional spheres, using own languages and English.

CB-03. - Working in a team, helping to prepare specific and multidisciplinary projects.

CB-04. - Planning and assessing one's own activity and learning and elaborating strategies to improve them by applying quality criteria.

CB-05. Capacity to act, generate proposals and take decisions in research and professional activity with ethical and sustainable criteria.

To improve these basic skills, each student is required to write and submit a self-reflection report once a year. The aim of this report is ensure they are conscious of their progress and are capable of detecting and identifying aspects they master and aspects they need to improve, as well as to propose strategies they can adopt for future years.

SATISFACTION

A satisfaction survey is conducted every year on students who complete the Tutorial Action Plan (PAT) and on the tutors of students who present their bachelor's theses. The result of this survey is available from this link.

The PAC has been developed to work on, assess and improve the monitoring of the acquisition of the basic skills by the student. With this objective in mind, a series of core, compulsory subjects have been defined for them to work on and achieve these basic skills. The assessment is performed via one or several learning activities designed especially with this objective in mind. The grades of these basic skills, achieved year after year, are complemented with the tutor’s appraisal of the PAT of the process of reflection and independent learning in the achievement of each skill.

The subjects selected to be part of the PAC assess the basic skills through the activities that the corresponding teaching staff consider most suitable.

The grades achieved in PAC activities are introduced into the PAT computer application at the end of each academic year, meaning that both the tutor and the student can monitor the achievement of these skills. Once the course has ended, the student is required to reflect on the attainment of the basic skills bearing in mind the appraisals obtained within the framework of the PAC.

The grades achieved as part of this process will affect part of the bachelor's thesis grade, as will the assessment of the PAT self-reflection reports, and will be taken into account for determining the skills that the student has mastered at the end of their studies.

CB-02. - Knowing how to communicate orally and in writing in scientific and professional spheres, using own languages and English.

The UdG library provides the entire community with access to BABEL. This includes guides for writing in different subjects, tools for good oral presentations or good written work and access to different linguistic resources, as well as other features.

CB-03. - Working in a team, helping to prepare specific and multidisciplinary projects.

The Educational Innovation in Evaluation Network (XIDAV) at the UdG has developed a platform for evaluating teamwork AVATREQ. Several of the UdG's Teaching Centres are currently using this platform. Precisely, the Faculty of Sciences is applying it to the evaluation of teamwork in team in some subjects at the PAC. This platform also includes a guide to teamwork, explaining how to monitor and evaluate this skill and providing resources for revitalising the various training stages of work teams and examples of teamwork-based activities.

CB-05. Capacity to act, generate proposals and take decisions in research and professional activity with ethical and sustainable criteria.

The Social Commitment Unit at the UdG offers training courses that include aspects such as Sustainability, gender perspective or sustainable development agenda, among others. The courses entitle students to one credit with academic recognition.

The UdG Skills School offers training capsules linked to the world of work, where students can gain new skills or improve their professional skills and techniques for finding work, work experience or starting up a business.
