The Mentoring Plan (MP) aims to provide the Faculty of Sciences’ newcomer students with the necessary guidance and advice to facilitate their academic and social integration into the institution and boost their acquisition of skills for greater success in its studies. It is based on the guidance and help that newcomer students receive – mentored students – from senior students –mentor students – and complements the Faculty of Science's Tutorial Action Plan (PAT). Under the MP, the functions of tutoring are carried out by a member of the same collective, so mentoring is between equals.
The MP is supervised by the mentoring plan coordinator, who takes part in the promotion of the Plan and manages enrolments and assignments of mentored students among mentor students. Global coordination is carried out by the Vice Dean for Quality and the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences. Each mentoring student (MS) guides a group of between 3 and 6 mentored students (mss) and is guided and supervised by the coordinator.
SMs who take part in the MP for two years will receive 2 academically recognised credits. Such participation can be entered in CVs as an element of quality. SMs will be able to have an accrediting certificate issued by the Faculty of Sciences’ secretary’s office, if they so request.
