Continguts

1. Unit one - Tourism Today. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. dicuss recent and current developments in tourism 2. describe change and consequence 3. understand and use statistics and charts 4. ask for and give opinions,agree, and disagree 5. talk about tourism management skills

2. Unit two - National Tourism Organisations. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand texts describing National Tourism Organizations 2. run a meeting, making sure that the agenda is followed and people contribute 3. use pausing to help to structure what s/he is saying. 4. understand people talking about national brand images 5. prepare a market profile from authentic field data

3. Unit three - Managing tour operations. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand the way contracts operate between tour operators and principals 2. talk about degrees of future probability 3. carry out a negotiation 4. research the local area for ideas for package tours

4. Unit four - Hotel management. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand written and spoken texts about the hotel trade 2. compare hotels by size accurately 3. express personality and job skills in detail 4. prepare an in-depth personal statement 5. participate in an interview for a hotel job

5. Unit five - E-travel. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand written and spoken texts about e-travel and online travel sales 2. change register in emails according to the recipient 3. understand the value of pauses when giving presentations 4. prepare and give the introduction to a presentation on a tourism subject

6. Unit six - Quality in tourism. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. talk about different quality assurance methods 2. write performance standards for jobs in tourism 3. respond to a written complaint 4. research quality management systems in the local area

7. Unit seven - The impacts of tourism. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand written and spoken texts about the impacts of tourism 2. take turns and make point in a discussion 3. use stress to emphasize or contrast ideas during a discussion 4. prepare written guidelines of good practice

8. Unit eight - Built attractions. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand spoken and written texts about theme parks 2. make a presentation of the design for a new theme park 3. use signposting to make the structure of the presentation clear 4. understand spoken and written texts about built attractions 5. write a report about the built attractions in the local area

9. Unit nine - Events management. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand and talk about the events management sector 2. explain and define technical vocabulary 3. understand and talk about the job of events organizer 4. give a briefing and clarify arrangements for a fam trip or other event 5. research events management training courses and work experience

10. Unit ten - Sustainable tourism. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand texts on the sustainable development of tourism 2. talk about the difference between ecotourism and sustainable tourism 3. use appropriate phrases to bring an oral presentation to an end 4. give a presenation on eco-friendly policies 5. send an internal memo using different structure to soften any commands

11. Unit eleven - Social tourism. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand and talk about social tourism 2. research information about providers of social tourism 3. participate in a meeting to discuss idesa for holidays for young people 4. write emails making recommendations 5. read articles about low-cost travel and discuss its implications

12. Unit twelve - Tomorrow's tourism. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. understand and talk about data and statistics on current and future trends 2. make predictions about the future of tourism 3. ask and answer hypothetical questions and discuss scenarios 4. write a detailed CV. 5. review personal achievements and talk about ambitions

Task-based learning activities in class The student has to attend 80% of the classes and participate in the activities in order to be in the Continuous Evaluation system. There is a global competence test in the last week of term for students who do not qualify for Continuous Evaluation. 2,5
Completion of grammar exercises and self-correction from key Reading, internet research, grammar and use of English exercises and much more! 5
Writing assignments There are 10 writing assignments. You have to write, hand in, and then correct the text and put it into your Student Portfolio. 25
Theme tests on grammar and vocabulary There is a test after every two themes. The test is on the grammar and vocabulary studied in the themes. 20
Oral presentations The oral presentations are in themes 5,8,10 and 12. The presentations are in small groups or individual. 20
Skills test There is a skills tests evaluating reading comprehension,writing,listening comprehension and speaking 25
Completion of Portfolio The instructions for the portfolio are in the student guide 2,5

Qualificació

EVALUATION SYSTEM

Continuous Evaluation:
Throughout the course students will be tested on grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Students must actively participate in class both individually and in groups. You must achieve an average mark of 60% in the evaluation tasks and attend a minimum of 80% of classes.

Students who do not pass Continuous Evaluation will have the opportunity to recuperate their mark at the end of the course via the Global Competence Test.
