The Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy trains specialists in the study of the mind and all its psycho-physiological processes and correlates, interpersonal relationships, groups, organisations and social movements. As a discipline in the field of health, it has an extensive practical component, and professionalisation objectives.
Students who wish to take psychology studies need to have a diverse knowledge base, to the extent that the field of knowledge they intend to delve into is too. Studying psychology requires an interest in philosophical and epistemological subjects, where reflection on people and their development are developed. It likewise requires an interest in methodological subjects, insofar as psychological knowledge is founded on systematised practices for gathering and analysing information. It requires an interest in biological, social and cultural subjects, since it is about the behaviour and development of people in their context, and, finally, it requires an interest in the subjects of health, where people’s welfare and quality of life are involved.
Learning objectives
Educating professionals at the service of people and groups and social organisations, based on specialist theoretical knowledge and practical training, with a great variety of functions in areas as diverse as the promotion of health and quality of life, education, sport, justice, work, traffic and road safety and social intervention.
Skills acquired
The education will enable students to acquire the scientific knowledge needed for understanding, interpreting, analysing and explaining the behaviour; the skills for evaluating and intervening in the individual and social area throughout the life cycle and, finally, the appropriate attitudes for promoting health, welfare and quality of life.
Psychologists can work in a great variety of centres and services (in some areas a specialisation is required): courts, prisons, formal and non-formal educational centres, sport and leisure entities, general hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, private firms and services, media, associations and foundations, security forces, companies and organisations, etc.
University master’s degrees
The UdG offers an extensive master’s-degree programme. Master's degree courses offer advanced, specialised or multidisciplinary training, aimed at providing students with an academic or professional specialism or an introduction to research. These are official courses that enable students to move on to study for a doctoral degree.
Doctorate degree programmes
The doctoral studies are aimed at providing students with advanced training in research techniques and include the preparation and presentation of a doctoral thesis, consisting of original research work. To join a doctoral programme you need to have a minimum of between 60 and 120 ECTS credits at official university master's degree level or equivalent.

Students can complete part of their degree programme abroad through the Erasmus programme, which enables them to carry on their studies whilst undertaking an international exchange with academic value in a European university.
They also have access to grants for placements at universities in Spain and on other continents, thanks to bilateral agreements, the SICUE programme and the expansion of the Erasmus+ Programme.
