It's useful to know

In the Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering, you will learn the foundation of all areas of engineering and technology. To design, develop and analyse:

  • vehicles, machines and structures (mechanical engineering) 
  • electronic components, automatic systems and robots (electronic and automated engineering)
  • chemical processes and environmental management (chemical engineering).

At the same time, you will acquire the scientific and mathematical knowledge for understanding the necessary technical and scientific literature to carry out research and development (R+D+I) in any of these areas, as well as to interpret reports drafted by other specialist engineers. This multidisciplinary ability will allow you to lead cross-disciplinary working parties and work as a manager in technology companies.

The Master in Industrial Engineering is the natural next step in the training of a holder of an industrial engineering degree. The master's degree allows the graduate to enter the industrial engineer profession which has a 150-year history and is highly valued by national and international companies.

Access

Access requirements

  • Upper secondary school education. Access: university entrance examinations (PAU), general phase. Admission: weighting of subjects examined in university entrance exam (PAU) linked to the branch of knowledge of Engineering and Architecture.
  • Higher level vocational training cycles (CFGS). Access: all CFGS. Admission: weighting of subjects examined in university entrance exam (PAU) linked to the branch of knowledge of Engineering and Architecture.
  • Over 25s. Must pass the preferential option of the entrance exam: Engineering and Architecture.
  • Over 40s. Appraisal of any professional experience related to the bachelor's degree the applicant wishes to study for and suitability for the course, as demonstrated at interview.
  • Over 45s. Must pass entrance exam and demonstrate suitability at interview.
  • Other special types of access recognized under current regulations.

The unemployment rate among Industrial Engineers is very low since over 90% gain work in areas relating to engineering and technology, according to several sources such as the Agència de Qualitat Universitària (Government of Catalonia), the Ministry for the Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, and the newspapers El País and La Vanguardia. The Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering is designed to be complemented by the Master in Industrial Engineering, which is the only official master's degree that authorises the holder to enter the industrial engineer profession. While the most natural path for a graduate of Engineering in Industrial Technologies is to enter the Master in Industrial Engineering programme, the bachelor’s degree also opens up other scientific and technology post-graduate courses. For those wishing to continue into academia, the Doctoral Programme in Technology is also available.

Practical work experience

All subjects have a practical aspect that carries a lot of weight on the course. You will carry out the practical projects in small groups in laboratories with equipment adapted to current needs.

Businesses play a large role at the Polytechnic School. As an electrical engineering student, you will be able to take up work placements from a number of companies. You will be able to choose between over 450 options available each year.

Bachelor's thesis

During the last year of the degree you will complete an End of degree project, in which you will demonstrate the knowledge you have acquired over the course of the degree.

The bachelor's thesis is an engineering project on whatever subject you choose; it is carried out under the supervision of a lecturer. If you wish, you can complete this in a company or research group.

The business association that supports the Polytechnic School and the professional college of engineers award prizes to the best theses every year.

Examples of theses

Mobility

Students can complete part of their degree programme abroad through the Erasmus programme, which enables them to carry on their studies whilst undertaking an international exchange with academic value in a European university.

They also have access to grants for placements at Spanish universities and those on other continents, thanks to bilateral agreements, the SICUE programme and the expansion of the Erasmus+ Programme.

3. Documents accrediting access to the university:

The University does not require any document to be produced, as such information is accredited by the University's Admissions Office. 5. Only where a student is not the holder of the bank account paying for their enrolment, a communication/change of bank data form (available on the Forms page) and a photocopy of the bank account holder’s ID.

The documentation must be submitted either when you enrol or before the 19 November at the Academic Secretary’s Office of the teaching centre (except for the large-family card in the event of renewal, which must be presented before 31 December).

Online enrolment

Online enrolment is the University of Girona's electronic enrolment system where enrolment is carried out via the internet, and is available for most study programmes.
