Language level to apply for a place

To be able to take part in a mobility programme (in other words, to apply for and gain a place on an international exchange programme) you must have an accredited minimum level of B2.1 in a third language (German, English, French or Italian) BEFORE applying, except where the classes are given in Spanish in the destination institution. For further information on third languages, consult the the SLM website .

You can obtain language level accreditation in two ways:

  • Recognition of the third language in the period established by the academic office of the secretary of the PS.
  • Through the open examinations organised by the MLS (English, French, German) (please note: it is essential to enrol for the open exams in advance). For further information consult the the SLM website .

It should be noted that certain exchange places may require a language or minimum level that is different to the language and/or level accredited as a third language. Besides the third language, students must also comply with the language and minimum level associated with each exchange place.

Table of equivalent language levels

Consult the New Mobility Programme Regulations for 2016-17 (includes level of language required for taking part in a Mobility programme).
