Current projects and research lines
FUNSTREAM, Temporary fluvial ecosystems and global change: effects on ecosystem structure and functioning (CGL2014-58760-C3-2-R), Funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Participants: University of Girona, University of Barcelona, Catalan Institute for Water Research. Duration: 1-1-2015 al 31-12-2017. Leader Researcher at the University of Girona subproject: Anna M. Romaní.
Collaboration with the University of Barcelona within the European project Interfaces-Ecohydrological interfaces as critical hotspots for transformations of ecosystem exchange fluxes.
Collaboration with the Hydrogeology Group at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC)
Research contracts with the enterprises Itram-Higiene and Cetaqua
Current research lines:
1 Impact of global change effects (such as warming and pollution) on biofilm formation, microbial interactions, biofilm functioning and metabolic outcome
2 Relationships between aquatic microbial community composition and functioning
3 Impact of drought on microbial biodiversity and organic matter degradation processes
4 Interactions between physical-chemical properties in sediment depth and biogeochemical and microbial processes
5 Mediterranean rivers, organic matter and hyporheic sediment functioning
6 Development of techniques for biofilm detection
Current PhD students:
Giulia Gionchetta (PhD project title: Drought impacts on heterotrophic riverbed communities of temporary streams)
Current Post-Doc students: Núria Perujo
