Research Interests

My PhD focuses on the effect of seagrass habitat fragmentation on the local hydrodynamics and sediment capture. As these coastal habitats provide several ecosystem services that attenuate the wave velocities and increase sedimentation. However, in the last decades, seagrass meadows have been suffering from plant loss and as a result, increasing habitat fragmentation. The experiments for my PhD have been carried out in both the field and the laboratory. Dr Teresa Serra and Dr Jordi Colomer supervise my PhD project. A collaboration with Dr Eduardo Infantes from Kristineberg Marine Research Station, Sweeden had been carried out as part of the PhD.

From 2017 to 2019 I had also been involved in a European Project: INNOQUA-Innovative Ecological on-site Sanitation System for Water and Resource Savings, which was focused on finding eco-friendly method for treating wastewater using the crustacean Daphnia magna as a second treatment by studying their filtration under different stressors as temperature, light intensity the presence of typical wastewater chemicals.
