Dr Joaquin Salvi Mas



Besides the competences conferred by Article 97 of the UdG Statutes the rector will lead the

Quim Salvi i Mas is the University of Girona’s fifth rector, chosen by a vote of the whole community on 30 November 2017. His mission, as the highest academic authority, is to set out the governance policies, ensure the smooth running of the University, with participation, quality, transparency and efficiency, and ensure this is a place where learning is achieved with the enjoyment of those who teach and those who learn, where the vocation of public service is always present, with humility and generosity, and where society is one more stakeholder in the university community.

Quim Salvi was born in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. He is Professor of the Area of Computer Architecture and Technology and a member of the Computer Vision and Robotics research group.

His managerial experience includes running the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Automation, as well as being Studies coordinator, Campus vice-rector and director of the Polytechnic School.

His teaching and research interests focus on computer vision applied to robotics and medical imaging. He has been the main researcher in numerous national and international projects and led projects on the internationalisation of master’s degree studies and the international mobility of master's and doctoral degree students.

He likes to innovate in the kitchen and share the results with friends and he enjoys swimming on the Costa Brava any time of the year.
