The UdG Equality Plan

Second Equality Plan of the UdG (approved in Governing Council 3/2021 of 29 April 2021)

Governing Council 3/2021 of 29 April 2021 approved the Second Equality Plan of the University of Girona (2021-2025). An instrument of strategic planning that will define the horizon of the gender policies of our university community for the next four years. It expressly states the institution's unwaivable commitment to the value of equality, a commitment that will be reflected, on the basis of consensus, in all the skill areas of the UdG and that materialises in fifty actions structured around six big strategic pillars. In this web space you will be able to view this strategic planning instrument and all the reports and data that have served as the basis for the diagnosis, design and prioritisation of actions.

Second UdG Equality Plan

The Second Equality Plan has been designed and agreed within the framework of a participative process with an extensive scope promoted during the first semester of academic year 2020-2021. This participatory process included a survey sent to the university community of the UdG, answered by 918 people; variousdiscussion groups that added the contributions from some seventy people from the various groups (students, teaching and research staff and administrative and service staff); interviews; information sessions, critical reflection and debates with students, as well as focused classes and practical activities within the framework of several subjects taught in various bachelor's degrees. This Second Equality Plan was also reviewed by various representative and governing bodies, as well as by gender-expertise networks of the UdG . Such is the case with the Staff Committee, the Student Council, the Network of Educational Innovation on the gender perspective and the Gender and Diversity delegations from the various schools. All the contributions resulting from this participatory process were discussed and agreed to at various working sessions of the Equality Committeeof the UdG. For the relevant purposes, the deployment of this participative process has made it possible to agree and complete the list of actions, making the new Equality Plan a collective project for the UdG community. A tool for strategic planning that includes commitments and challenges made clear by the community, the various units, structures and services.

You can see below the contributions from the supervised discussion groups and the surveys.

For the purposes of drafting the Second UdG Equality Plan, allowing a snapshot of the UdG’s current context, several documents were consulted, some of which you can see below.

First Equality Plan

Responding to a request from the Women and Science Committee, the Full Inter-University Council of Catalonia Meeting of 21 April 2006 called on all Catalan universities,to start drafting a plan for equality between men and women before the end of April 2007.

To that end, on 27 October of the same year, the UdG’s Governing Council approved the creation of a “Commission for the Plan for Equal Opportunities between Men and Women at the University of Girona”. Its functions were to start the process of drafting the equality plan, to ensure its implementation, facilitate its dissemination and increase contact with other universities and institutions committed to equality between genders.

Moreover, on 22 March 2007, "ORGANIC LAW 3/2007, of 22 March, for effective equality between men and women" came into effect, establishing that companies with over 250 workers must draft a plan for equal opportunities between men and women- This plan must serve the purpose of preventing any type of discrimination at work between men and women.

It was approved by the Governing Council in January 2008, as was the Equality Plan Monitoring Committee, which was responsible for presenting the Equality Plan to the Governing Council. Finally, on 29 January 2009, the Plan for Equal Opportunities between Men and Women was approved by the UdG’s governing council.
