A high-performance French technology center operates in the sector of laser solutions and optics. In response to the M-ERA.NET Transnational Call 2017, the technology center is looking for partners with expertise in spectroscopy, chemometrics, colorimetry and immunoassays.
Us volíem informar de la següent petició en el Enterprise Europe Network:
Spectroscopy refers to a scientific measurement technique for the study of matter through its interaction with different components of the electromagnetic spectrum. This tool is used to analyze the structure and properties of the matter from a spectrum of light. Until today, it was mainly reserved for professionals considering the complexity, the size and the cost of the equipment. The M-ERA.NET Transnational Call 2017 aims at addressing materials research and innovation focusing on innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces. The innovative device developed by the technology center makes the measurement technique available to all by offering a simple, ultra-compact and low cost solution. The project proposal is to develop an innovative spectrometer with new applications for material characterization and analysis.
The French technology center is active in the sector of innovative laser solutions, photonics and optical systems. By combining expertise in opto-mechanics, electronics, optics and lasers, it has already proved its capacity to design and develop a range of complex laser-based devices.
As a response to the M-ERA.NET Transnational Call 2017, the technology center proposes an innovative solution based on an optical device to be placed on any smartphone in order to create an ultra-compact connected spectrometer. The technology center has developed a first prototype that is entering into commercialization.
The optical device has the capacity to turn any commercial smartphone into an ultra-compact spectrometer that can measure, analyze and export spectral data. It is perfectly suited for crowd-sourced data collection. The current device allows a spectral resolution of 5nm with an accuracy of 1nm. For now, it operates in the visible range but it could be extended to the ultraviolet or infrared range. This technology can be used to perform spectra analysis on light sources or to detect the type of light bulb such as LED, halogen, fluocompact even at a far distance, or to perform chemical analysis based on colorimetric reagents to test water, food or soil quality. The device can also be adapted to measure colorimetric coordinates from various samples.
The technology platform is looking for partners from the industry sector, research and academic sector in order to develop new applications around the technology. This involves the development of new uses of such a device, the improvement of the robustness of the measurement by algorithms, the coupling of the device with additional modules. The ultra-compact spectrometer can be used in food industry (colorimetry, detection of allergens), water quality (detection of pollutants), gemology applications, education and training, counterfeiting. The combination of the spectrometer with colorimetric reagents or immunoassays is promising for food testing, health diagnostics, precision agriculture or environmental chemical testing.
