Below, you can see a video of the INNOQUA European project that has been recently created. The project is challenging pre-conceived ideas that nature-based wastewater treatment is only suitable for rural and remote populations. Harnessing the combined potential of earthworms, zooplankton and microalgae, the modular system is currently being demonstrated in 11 countries on 4 continents – in both urban and rural environments. The project is exploring the treatment efficacy of the system as well as the potential for water re-use. Two research groups of the University of Girona (UdG) are participating in this ongoing project: "Analytical and Environmental Chemistry" and "Environmental Physics". Dr. Victòria Salvadó is the Principal Investigator of the former research group and the coordinator of the UdG INNOQUA research team. In this film, scientists of the INNOQUA project explain the technologies and show the demo and pilot sites in Europe and Latin America. The INNOQUA project is financially supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement Nº 689817.
