Continguts

1. 1.TOURISM TODAY. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1.1. Discuss recent and current developments in tourism 1.2. Describe change and consequence 1.3. Understand and use statistics and charts 1.4. Ask for and give opinions, agree, and disagree 1.5. Talk about tourism management skills 1.6. Grammar: Articles; countable & uncountable nouns / quantifiers

2. 2. NTOs. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 2.1. Understand written and spoken texts about National Tourism Organizations, market research and traditional brand image 2.2. Organizing, running a meeting, and negotiating an agenda to follow 2.3. Carry out a negotiation about trade fair stands 2.4. Research current market brands and trends and study how brand images are created 2.5 Grammar: Modals: ability, permission, advice, criticism, obligation and necessity, degrees of certainty.

3. 3. MANAGING TOUR OPERATIONS. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 3.1. Understand the way contracts operate between tour operators and principals 3.2. Talk about degrees of future probability 3.3. Carry out a negotiation 3.4. Research the local area for ideas for package tours 3.5 Grammar: Conditionals

4. 4. HOTEL MANAGEMENT. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 4.1. Understand written and spoken texts about the hotel trade 4.2. Compare hotels by size accurately 4.3. Express personality and job skills in detail 4.4. Prepare an in-depth personal statement 4.5. Participate in an interview for a hotel job 4.6. Grammar: -ing form or infinitive; infinitives of purpose

5. 5. E-TRAVEL. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 5.1. Presenting a personalized product. 5.2. Get help. 5.3. Start presentations and introductions with impact. 5.4. Grammar: Welcoming the audience; introducing yourself; stating topic and relevance; concluding and dealing with questions

6. 6. QUALITY IN TOURISM. At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 6.1. Talk about different quality assurance methods 6.2. Write performance standards for jobs in tourism 6.3. Respond to a written complaint 6.4. Research quality management systems in a local area 6.5. Grammar: Question tags; indirect questions

Speaking Show&Tell. Oral presentation of a destination: describing geographical features, main tourist attractions, festivals and events, traditions, accommodation, etc. 40

Qualificació

The assessment will be continuous and progressive and the student will be graded through activities done in class which are based on each of the areas.

There are two options:

1. CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT
- If the student does not attend to an activity, it will count as a 0.
- There is no average between the marks.
- The final mark will consist of the sum of all percentages.
- A 50% of the total is required in order to pass the course.

2. FINAL EXAM IN JUNE
- Students who do not want to follow the continuous assessment
- Students who fail the continuous assessment
- A 50% of the total is required in order to pass the exam and the course.
- The exam will consist of the following parts:

1. Listening ................................ 20%
2. Reading .................................. 20%
5. Writing .................................. 20%
4. Speaking ................................. 40%

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
The student who does not follow the continuous assessment and does not take the final exam in June will obtain a "No Presentat".
