Introduction of the Chair in Sustainable Industrial Processes
Establishment
The Chair in sustainable industrial processes was approved by the Council of Government of the University of Girona on 25th of October of 2007, proposed by prof. PhD. Angel López from University of Girona, with the support of the Department of Chemical Engineering and according with the collaboration and promotion of the University of Girona and the company IMJAC S.L.
The agreement of collaboration for the establishment of the Chair, was signed on 29th of November of 2007, between the company IMJAC S.L. and the University of Girona.
Objectives
The main objective of the Chair is the promotion of activities to help to the society, from a general point of view, and to the companies, from a particular one, with the tools (council, ideas and experiences) to allow the starting of polities and actions driving to the sustainability.
ENERGY SEMINAR
16th & 17th October 2008 and 1th & 2th October 2009
Escola Politècnica Superior
Girona University
Sustainable Industrial Processes Professorship of the UdG has among its aims to promote and spread works about energy management. Academic community, enterprises and common people are its addressees.
Increasing energy consumption and prices as soon as its influence on the environment let us see a disturbing scene for everybody. The energy increasing demand by emergent nations make even darker the next future.
The energetic future is uncertain and its consequences on materials prices, transport and the family and enterprises economy are unpredictable.
This is the framework where the Energy Seminar is organised. Members of prestigious energy institutions are invited to deal and discuss about the more actual ways of energy production: electricity production from solar energy, using hydrogen as a vector, producing electricity from fuel cells and from nuclear energy. Furthermore, the compatibility between all this ways of getting energy is also a target for the seminar.
As usually happens in Science, these technologies have advantages and drawbacks. The main target is to build a forum of graduates, managers and civil representatives where it was easy to take in consideration the present and future circumstances.
