On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to welcome you to the Third University European Rowing Championship which will take place in Banyoles in 2007.

Rowing has always been a traditional sport in our region, and the University of Girona has bet on it since the year of 1993.  The consolidation of the Rowing University Championships of Catalonia, the success in setting up a new Rowing initiation module as part of the UdG Sports Service academy program,  the creation of Rem UDG association and the fourth edition of the International Regatta of Girona testify of this involvement from our university.

 During the past years, with the help of the Organizing Committee, the University of Girona has put in great efforts to make sure that our bid wins the 2006 European Sport Association (EUSA) elections.

It is a great satisfaction for our University to organise championships of this importance -the first of this scale to be celebrated in Spain- and, as Rector, I am very honoured to be part of this event on this exceptional Lake of Banyoles, which, in a way, we all consider as our own.

I hope the championships are a success in terms of number of participants and I would like to invite you all to join us in Banyoles, from the 6th to the 9th of September 2007, in order to enjoy the show and encourage all our sportsmen. Thanks to all.
