Xavier
Torres Sans (Barcelona, 1955) is the author of several studies on
Catalonia in the 16th and 17th centuries; in particular on banditry,
textile manufacturing, popular memory and the Reapers’ War. Recently,
his research has focused on the analysis of patriotism and collective
identities in Modern Europe and the Catalonia of the Austrian monarchs.
He has written a book soon to be published entitled Naciones sin nacionalismo Cataluña en la Monarquía Hispánica. Future research is planned on musical oratories in the Catalonia of the Bourbons and, in general, on European Baroque opera.
