Research lines: Patriotism in Modern Europe; Personal and family memories and diaries; Banditry in Modern Catalonia



Xavier Torres Sans (Barcelona, 1955) is the author of several studies on Catalonia in the 16th and 17th centuries; in particular on banditry, textile manufacturing, popular memory and the Reapers’ War. Recently, his research has focused on the analysis of patriotism and collective identities in Modern Europe and the Catalonia of the Austrian monarchs. He has written a book soon to be published entitled Naciones sin nacionalismo Cataluña en la Monarquía Hispánica. Future research is planned on musical oratories in the Catalonia of the Bourbons and, in general, on European Baroque opera.
