Rosa Congost was awarded a Doctorate in History in 1988 and has been Professor in Economic History at the University of Girona since 1995. She is the author of numerous works on the ownership of land and social-agricultural relations in Catalonia. In recent years she has focused in particular on compared history. She has published some monographs and articles in academic journals and has coordinated some collective works related to research projects directed by her and carried out at the Rural History Research Centre (Institute of Historical Research) of the University of Girona. She also annotated and carried out the preparatory work for the publishing of Pierre Vilar’s book Pensar Històricament. Reflexions i records and is one of the promoters (together with Arón Cohen and Pablo Luna) of the Atelier Pierre Vilar. She is currently the head researcher of the History of Rural Societies Research Group (recognised by the Generalitat of Catalonia) of the UdG, Co-Director of the Estudis d’Història Agrària journal, secretary of the Spanish Agricultural History Society and Vice-Chair of the COST Action A35 Programme for the Study of European Rural Societies, financed by the European Union, in which 20 European countries are taking part.
