RECASENS VERT, Maria

Lecturer in History of Art
Research lines: Theory of image and Genealogy of the practice of painting

Barcelona, 1962. Her initial research focused on Paul Valéry’s theory of art. It then moved on to the relationship between art and Nihilism, with particular emphasis on the relationship between Nietzsche and Burckhardt and on a review of the concept of image in the writings of Carlo Sini. This review of the concept of image continued with the writings of Walter Benjamin. Her recent research has focused on the practice of painting from a genealogical perspective. In parallel to the practice of theory she devotes her time to the practice of painting.
