FAXEDAS BRUJATS, Maria Lluïsa

Lecturer in History of Contemporary Art
Member of the Theories of Contemporary Art Research Group

I am a Lecturer in History of Contemporary Art and History of Contemporary Art in Catalonia, which are also my principal research lines. I was awarded a Doctorate in 2007 for my thesis entitled From Symbolism to Abstraction: the ideal of the unity of the arts in the work of Kandinsky and Mondrian. I am also interested in reflecting on the practice of history of art, particularly in the local environment, in this case the counties of Girona. As such, I direct a one-day conference on contemporary art studies, of which two editions have now taken place (18th January 2007 and 6th May 2008). I also teach classes as part of the Master’s Degree in Communication and Art Criticism, which I coordinated for 5 years. I am a member of the Chair of Contemporary Art and Culture.
