BARNOSELL JORDÀ, Genís

Research interests: Catalonia, Spain and Europe in the 19th century (1808-74); The history of work; Trade unionism; The liberal revolution and the working classes; Nationalism; Religion
Genís Barnosell (Verges, 1968) holds a Doctorate in Contemporary History from the Pompeu Fabra University. His research lines focus on the comparative history of the 19th century, in particular:
- the history of work and trade unionism
- the evolution of political discourses and practices (especially liberalism, republicanism and romantic socialism and their relationship to religion and the world of work, and their proposals concerning the organisation of society)
- Historiography and construction of historical memory, with special reference to Catalan and Spanish nationalisms.
He is a memeber of the History, Memory and Identity Research Group at the UdG and of the Work, Institutions and Gender Interdisciplinary Research Group based at the University of Barcelona. Since 2007 he has been the academic coordinator of the Prizes for research work by baccalaureate students, awarded by the Social Council of the UdG. Access personal webpage and blog.
