Gabriel Alcalde Gurt (1958) holds a DEA in Museology (Advanced Studies Diploma) from the Jean Monnet University, Saint-Étienne (1996), and a Doctorate in History from the University of Girona (1993). Curator (1981-1982) and Director (1983-1997) of the Country Museum of La Garrotxa. Lecturer in Museology at the University of Girona since 1997. Director of the Cultural Heritage Institute of the University of Girona (2002-2004). Director of the Catalan Institute for Research into Cultural Heritage since 2006. Member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Museums of Catalonia.
