Research lines: Written culture; History of the book; Female reading and writing practices; History of women; Trade and literacy of merchants and artisans in the Late Middle Ages in Catalonia (from 13th to 15th century)




As an expert on cultural history, the history of the book and of the reading and writing practices of various Late Mediaeval groups and strata, she has mainly focused on the analysis of the history of the reading and writing practices of Late Mediaeval urban groups, especially women from various secular and religious strata and classes in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. She has also studied various aspects of Mediterranean trade (the use of writing in the organisation of trading companies, the circulation of books and reading material, the devotional practices of traders and sailors…). Director of the Josepa Arnall Juan International Seminar on Written and Visual Culture and Co-Director of the Colloquium Studium Medievale. Cultura Visual - Cultura Escrita held in Besalú. Head of the project entitled The cathedral before the city. Written, visual and musical culture in religious and civil institutions of Girona (from 13th to 17th centuries).
