The Office of Research and Technology Transfer (OITT, Oficina d'Investigació i Transferència Tecnològica), a part of the UdG Central Services, performs various research related functions, especially:
- Management of research grants (information, registration, application, financial management, justification of all types of research grants, at the regional, state and European levels).
- Management of technology and knowledge transfer: the OITT serves as a point of contact between companies and the University where the results and knowledge obtained from research activity are transferred for company use and returned to the market and the region in every possible way.
- Improvements in science communication and dissemination
Transferring requires knowing what is researched at the University and what activities the research groups are involved in so the results can be made available to companies interested in the subject(s) under study.
The OITT oversees contracts and other agreements with companies to finance research based specifically on what they need to do to develop. Products resulting from these research efforts often require legal protection in the form of patents and licences. In addition to managing that, the OITT seeks investment capital to participate in financing and in sharing the profits of spin-off companies launched from within the University itself.
With wide experience in technology transfer and management, the OITT manages its own research projects. Various European grants and actions resulting from the National Plan for R&D&i should be mentioned. (See the specific section.)
The OITT represents the UdG in various national and international networks:
