Workshop internacional sobre el mar d’Aral

grup de Física Ambiental de la UdG amb el suport de l'ICRA

Aquesta trobada forma part del programa de la OTAN Security through Science, en el que el grup de Física Ambiental de la UdG participa conjuntament amb el EFDP de l’Arizona State University, l’Institut Shirshov d’oceanografia de l’Acadèmia Russa de Ciències de Moscou i l' Institut de Geologia i Geofísica de Tashkent a Uzbekistan, i compte amb el suport del Institut Català de l’Aigua (ICRA).

En la inaguració del workshop hi assistirà el Dr. Miquel Duran, vicerector de recerca de la UdG i la Dr. Victòria Salvadó, directora del ICRA.

El professor Peter Zavialov, vicedirector de l'Institut Shirshov de l’Academia Russa de Ciències a Moscou i autor del llibre Physical Oceanography of the Dying Aral farà la conferència titulada “The Current State of the Aral Sea”.

El professor J.H.S. Fernando, director del EFDP i membre del Sri Lanka International Tsunami Survey Team que va visitar la zona devastada just després del desastre, farà la conferència titulada : “Tales of Troubled Waters: Sumatra Tsunami, Katrina Storm Surge and Cognates”.

La Dra. S. Leroy de la Brunel University de Londres i el Dr. J. Pérez de la UdG també parlaran sobre el Mar Caspi i el Karabogaz Gol a l’Àsia Central i el Salton Sea a Califòrnia.

Durant la resta de la setmana hi ha programades altres sessions de treball més especifiques pels participants del workshop.
