Educational objectives
The objective of the European Masters in Tourism Management (MDPT) is to provide students with advanced knowledge about tourism that will qualify them to work providing professional assessment, in the field of business innovation or as academic scholars.
The great complexity of the field of tourism demands professionals with a global understanding of the many disciplines related with the subject. Advanced knowledge of strategic management, innovation, marketing, town and country planning, economics, finance and legislation are essential for effective and competent decision-making in any work related with tourism.

Curriculum structure
The MDPT programme consists of:
- An advanced academic training module (48 ECTS credits)
- An instrumental module (12 ECTS credits)
- An specialised training module (30 ECTS credits)
- A masters thesis (30 ECTS credits) or a practicum (12 ECTS credits) and research work (18 ECTS credits), depending on whether the chosen focus of the masters has, respectively, a research or a professional profile.
The first two modules are common to all students and have been designed to offer, at an advanced level, the fundamental knowledge that all tourism professionals should have. The specialised training module is designed to allow students to focus their attention on specific areas of professional interest in the field of tourism. Finally, the objective of the masters thesis is focused on introducing the student to the world of scientific research, and the practicum, together with research work, is focused on applying knowledge and the skills obtained during the course in a comprehensive way.
Students who have chosen the research track of the masters can enter the Tourism, Law and Business (University of Girona) or the Tourism and Leisure (Rovira i Virgili University) doctoral programmes.

Admission profile, previous education requirements and admission and selection criteria

As a general rule, applications are accepted from students holding degrees similar to current Law, Labour Sciences and Business Administration and Management degrees, and with diplomas in Business Sciences and Public Administration from other member states of the European Union (90 credits).
