Subsidised (to give a general idea of what this means, for the 2006-2007 academic year the price has been set at 24-28 € per ECTS credit; in anticipation of approval of a Government of Catalonia decree, expected by June 2007, an approximate increase of between 5% and 7% can be calculated for the 2007-2008 academic year). |

Educational objectives
In the first year, the masters will study in depth subjects learned in the first degree on concepts, the principles and methods of linguistics, analytic philosophy and cognitive psychology for the study of language. This will provide a broad basis to introduce the student to interdisciplinary research on language and cognition.
During the second year, the student will become familiar with the most commonly debated current issues and proposals in linguistics, analytic philosophy and cognitive psychology and with ways of approaching them according to the discipline in which the student intends to do research.
Through the design and preparation of a research project and its defence in front of colleagues and teachers in seminars, the student will specialise in the subject and be able to begin primary level interdisciplinary research in one of the disciplines, possibly leading to a doctoral thesis.

Curriculum structure
The masters is divided into three tracks, corresponding to the three areas of research on language within the framework of cognitive science into which the teaching staff are grouped. In each track, the first year aims to study in depth subjects learned during the degree. In the second year, students must take a minimum of two courses of a cross-curricular module in each of the other two disciplines.
Basic cross-curricular module: Foundations and principles of language / Multisensory integration processes / The nature of language
Advanced cross-curricular module: Cognitive science and linguistics / Cognitive science and philosophy / Cognitive science and psychology

Admission profile, previous education requirements and admission and selection criteria
Priority will be given to the academic records of students with degrees in Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation, and in any degree of Philology or its equivalent, but the admissions committee can make exceptions in certain justified cases.
The admitted students must commit themselves to completing high-level research.
In addition to having one of the previously mentioned degrees, candidates must submit a curriculum vitae, a short essay in which they indicate their personal interest in and motivation to enter the programme, and two reference letters. If necessary, a personal interview will be required. The only other general requirement for admission to the programme is having a good level of English, equivalent to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages developed by the Council of Europe: http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/CADRE_EN
.
