The studies of doctorate constitute the higher level of the university formation. They are addressed to the formation of researchers and they culminate with the realization of the doctoral thesis. The integration into the European Higher Education Area marks a period of transition in which the offer of the universities regarding the studies of doctorate structures in two categories:

• Doctorates of the official postgraduate programmes (POP)
  
• Doctoral programmes
