Com s'arriba a Girona

Girona (http://www.ajuntament.gi/turisme/) is a city located in a strategic point (41.59º north latitude, 2.49º east longitude) of the Iberian Peninsula. Over the years it has become a genuinely modern transport hub, and access to the city by car, train or plane is excellent.

Girona is directly connected with Europe and with the rest of the country by the AP-7 and the A-2 motorways and the C-25 highway, also known as the Eix transversal (a road crossing the region), all of which follow former Roman roads. Various bus lines serve Girona and regular transport networks have been established with the rest of Catalonia and many European cities. The bus station is located at the Plaça d’Espanya. More information is available by phone at 0034972201591 or on the Internet at http://www.ajuntament.gi/mobilitat/.

The Girona-Costa Brava Airport, located 12 kilometres from the city centre and easily accessible by public transport (http://www.ajuntament.gi/mobilitat/), connects the city with numerous destinations in Europe and Spain. Further information is available at http://www.aena.es and http://www.girona-airport.net/.

The Barcelona Airport (el Prat) is a little over an hour from the city of Girona. Every 15 minutes a train leaves from the El Prat Airport to the Barcelona-Sants train station. There is also bus service from the Barcelona Airport to Girona.

The city of Girona is well connected by rail, thanks to the many trains to and from Barcelona. There are also lines connecting Girona with Europe and the rest of Spain. For the students that arrive to girona by train, is good to know  that exist an agreement among UdG and Renfe, that you can consult here. For more information: RENFE Train Station, Plaça d’Espanya, Tel. 0034902240202 or http://www.renfe.es.

Access to the various UdG campuses is easy, whether by taxi, by bus or, given the size of the city, on foot. The Barri Vell Campus (bus line 7) is located on a promontory in the old city centre, while the Montilivi Campus (bus line 8 or 11) is further away from the centre and the train station. Girona has parking spaces and areas reserved for the handicapped throughout the city. There are also traffic light signals with acoustic warning devices for pedestrians. The majority of buildings have been renovated.
